I enjoy a wide-range of artistic influences from the Sienese School, Dutch Masters, Fauves, Impressionists, Post-war English painters, Abstract Expressionists. The title of the work is “The Hidden Truth”. The Somerset landscape is one of the most beautiful soft and alluring but hidden under the gentleness is the stark horror of modern slavery and in this work I have tried to capture the conflicting reality of these two aspects of rural life – a rural setting and a woman held in servitude.
