Living and walking in the countryside I would offer a greeting to farmworkers I met. Often the response was furtive, and I put this down to the language barrier. Hearing about Modern Day Slavery has opened my eyes to this fearsome possibility.
I have tried to convey the hopelessness and resignation of the plight of those who live in the shadows, but the light surrounding the lady gives some hope – and a future. I hope that this picture conveys a ray of light onto a dark situation.
